The Master's degree program in Leisure, Sports and Tourism Management enables young people to help shape key areas of society. Leisure, sport and tourism are not only important industries, but also connecting and strengthening elements of every society. The economy and society must change, and this is only possible if young people redefine the logic of economic activity and the understanding of value creation.
- Prof. Dr. Kerstin Heuwinkel, Studienleiterin Master-Studiengang Freizeit-, Sport-, Tourismus-Management
The work-life balance has long been common practice in business. People like to seek the important balance to their working life through sport, travel or their individual leisure activities. Accordingly, they are open to what the market has to offer - from a three-star hotel in the Caribbean to a guided boat tour during a city trip or a Zumba class around the corner. However, in order to win over an audience and interested parties, providers must develop an attractive offer for the customer, communicate it clearly and specifically and also fulfill the expectations that arise. In doing so, it is important to combine the wishes of the customers with the economic goals of the various players, both economically and ecologically. We teach how this can be successfully managed in our interdisciplinary Master's degree course in Leisure, Sport and Tourism Management.
Students at htw saar learn what characterizes first-class management in the leisure, sports and tourism industry. From the development of new offers and their marketing, the planning of the required personnel, the management of all processes to ensuring the quality of all services, we explain scientific findings with current practical relevance.
In addition, our students on the FIBAA-accredited course develop an understanding of how they can prepare for the ecological, economic and socio-cultural changes in leisure, sport, tourism and business. To this end, we teach students professional, methodological, social and intercultural skills and explain current concepts in leisure management, sports management and tourism management. This enables our students to take on a management role in one of the diverse fields of activity in the leisure, sport and tourism sectors after graduation.
The Leisure, Sports and Tourism Management degree program deals with the following questions:
At htw saar, we learn a lot about current trends and future developments. Guest lectures give us new ideas about what to expect in our jobs and we always get exciting tips for events and lectures outside the university. As there are only around 20 of us students in a year group, there is a very informal atmosphere and we enjoy getting together for such activities.
