Studying without a university entrance qualification

Applicants with the following qualifications have a general higher education entrance qualification and can apply online to study at htw saar. In any case, the university must be provided with proof of an average grade, possibly in the form of a separate school certificate. If this is not the case, the university must set the grade at 4.0.

• Master craftsmen according to §§ 45, 51a, 122 of the Crafts Code (HwO)
• Holders of advanced training qualifications for which examination regulations exist in accordance with §§ 53, 54 Vocational Training Act (BBiG), §§ 42. 42a HwO, provided that the courses comprise at least 400 hours of instruction
• Holders of comparable qualifications within the meaning of the Seamen's Act (state certificate of competency for the nautical or technical shipping service)
• Holders of qualifications from technical colleges in accordance with the "Framework Agreement on Technical Colleges" of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in the current version
• Holders of further training qualifications for professions in the healthcare sector for which examination regulations exist in accordance with the Act on Further Training in the Healthcare and Geriatric Nursing Professions and the Practice of the Profession of Midwife and Maternity Nurse (WuHG) of November 25, 1998 (Official Gazette 1999, p. 142), last amended by the Act of September 12, 2007 (Official Gazette p. 1954), as amended, provided that the courses comprise at least 400 hours of instruction
• Holders of further training qualifications for professions in the field of social care and social pedagogy for which statutory examination regulations exist, provided that the courses comprise at least 400 teaching hours

Applicants without a higher education entrance qualification who do not belong to one of the groups listed above can be admitted to a trial course at htw saar under certain conditions and may subsequently receive a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification.

1. prerequisite
Anyone who, at the time of application, has

• has successfully passed a final examination with a qualified result (grade 2.5 or at least 80 points in the final vocational examination) in a relevant recognized training occupation with a regular training period of at least 2 years,
• has worked full-time for at least two years in the learned or a related profession and
• can provide evidence of the language skills required for the course.

2. duration
The trial course lasts at least two semesters and can last up to four semesters depending on the standard period of study (in part-time courses, the trial course is extended accordingly).

3. aptitudeassessment
The applicant applies to htw saar for an aptitude assessment after two semesters of trial studies at the earliest, submitting the transcripts of records.

The aptitude is determined if at least two thirds of the study and examination achievements / 40 ECTS have been successfully proven in accordance with the study and examination regulations.

2. Participation in the htw saar's course-specific student advisory service
3. The application and the evidence required below must be submitted to the university by April 1 at the latest of each year at the latest
4. In addition to the application for admission to atrial study program must be submitted to htw saar by by July 15 of each year, an application for a place on the desired degree program must be submitted via the online portal.

Applicants for continuing education Bachelor's degree programs can be admitted after passing an aptitude test.

usually in August (if the application deadline is 15.07.)
usually in February (if the application deadline is 15.01.)

• Proof of the required knowledge of the German language either by attending a school with German as the language of instruction for at least six years or by passing the German language examination for university entrance (DSH) with at least the overall result DSH-2 or equivalent examination

• Certificates of study counseling
