Cities are facing huge transformation processes. Demographic and structural change requires new approaches to housing construction, for example to make it even easier for different generations or social classes to live together. The consequences of climate change and new mobility concepts will also decisively change the face of urban and rural areas. Architects are the master builders of this future. They have the exciting responsibility of rethinking and further developing living spaces and translating a vision of the future into the architectural present.
The Master's degree program in Architecture prepares students for these tasks in urban and rural areas. In projects and elective subjects with a very high scientific and artistic standard, we deepen their core competence in the development of convincing designs. The modular structure of the degree course allows students to determine their own orientation and organization to a high degree.
With the Master's degree course in Architecture, we want to develop graduates in their interdisciplinary, cooperative and creative thinking and provide them with the basis for independent work.
The Architecture degree program deals with the following questions:
A good architect is characterized by the ability to adapt to the existing location and to respond to the topos, i.e. the location, when planning. All of this has an impact on the materials and construction. This requires a great deal of stamina and the willingness to go without sleep from time to time.
Gabriel Motsch und Lucas Wolf, Absolventen
The Master's degree qualifies graduates to practice the architectural profession in full, including the opportunity to join a chamber of architects after two years of professional experience. Joining the chamber enables you to work independently.
However, the career prospects in an employment relationship are also extremely varied. Architects with a Master's degree from htw saar can take on construction management, construction planning and design planning in offices. They can work in the public sector in monument protection or urban and landscape planning, where they can shape and support the sustainable transformation of a city. There is also the possibility of working as a research assistant at the university. In addition, the Master's degree opens up the attractive option of a doctorate, which would also qualify them for an academic career.
