We want to prepare our Master's students specifically for practice by training their analytical skills, teaching them quantitative methods and encouraging their creativity. Because in their future professional challenges, they will always have to implement new concepts in order to be able to react to changes.
- Prof. Dr. Teresa Melo, Studienleiterin Supply Chain Management
Nothing is more constant than change - and logistics has also undergone this over the past 20 years. It was and is above all a conceptual and digital change that is driving the industry forward and making it even more efficient. After all, it has to combine three things to remain successful today: react quickly, provide quickly and deliver quickly.
Whether shipping parcels from a shipping platform or the international and complex transportation of heavy machinery: In the complex and increasingly networked world, academically trained specialists and managers are indispensable. They must be able to coordinate, monitor and control the material, information and financial flows along the value chain. At htw saar, they receive the academic fine-tuning for this in the Master's degree course in Supply Chain Management.
In this course, we impart sound knowledge in supply chain management, business informatics and quantitative methods for decision support in a practical and application-oriented manner. Soft skills, teamwork, communication, project management and social skills are also promoted. In this way, we want to enable our students to make a valuable contribution in all areas of supply chain management and to be able to solve strategic and operational tasks - from purchasing and sales to mobility and digitalization.
The Master's degree course in Supply Chain Management deals with the following questions:
It was important for me to be able to do my job alongside my studies. So I was at htw saar on Monday and Friday and at the company on the other working days. In the practice-oriented Master's, I would now like to expand and deepen the broad knowledge from the Bachelor's in a targeted manner, because the harmonization of theory and practice is particularly important in the logistics industry.
Markus Kröher, Student
Due to the international orientation of our Master's degree course, many doors are open to students to take on demanding specialist and management roles in industry, trade or a service sector. The interface between logistics and information technology, where graduates can prove themselves and develop further, is also becoming increasingly important. In addition, the digital transformation has an impact on the design of the professional world and requires constant further development and cooperation.
Some graduates also take the opportunity to take on a job with a practical partner of htw saar or decide to pursue a career in science, including the possibility of completing a cooperative doctorate.
How do companies manage to make a product available at the right time and in the right place? That fascinated me and I really wanted to understand and learn about it. That's why I decided to do a Master's degree in Supply Chain Management at htw saar. There I was able to acquire compact knowledge in business administration, logistics and information technology in three semesters.
