I am always amazed at how diverse this degree program is and, above all, what the students make of it! The topic of start-ups in particular has picked up speed again recently, and I am convinced that our graduates have what it takes to manage projects and entire companies independently.
- Prof. Dr. Frank Hälsig, Studienleiter Betriebswirtschaft
Students particularly praise the support they receive from lecturers, the support they receive when studying abroad and the rooms and infrastructure at the Rotenbühl campus. In terms of completing Bachelor's and Master's degrees within a reasonable period of time, support at the start of studies and contact with professional practice, Business Administration at htw saar is ranked in the top group.
In our economic system, everything is connected to everything else: The success of local companies affects the prosperity of employees and the tax revenues of the state; fluctuations on the stock market in Japan put pressure on the euro; a US car manufacturer can pose a threat to Germany's flagship industry; low wage levels in Asian countries such as Indonesia jeopardize the continued existence of companies in Europe. And right in the middle of it all are the companies that have to assert themselves in this dynamic on a daily basis. Business is therefore always exciting and takes place everywhere - which makes it all the more important to know and use its rules: by studying business administration at htw saar.
The Bachelor's degree course in Business Administration at our university is as diverse in its teaching as the economy itself. Here, future business economists learn how to record and structure cash flows and costs, purchase goods and services, organize production, manage personnel, market services and products and sell them. Basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, business informatics, economics and business law are also part of our broad-based course.
As economic success is always based on interdisciplinary teamwork and good communication, we also teach social skills, presentation techniques and additional foreign languages at htw saar. By teaching know-how and business skills in this way, we make our students fit for the job market and prepare them for a wide range of employment opportunities, from controlling and marketing to human resources.
We have designed the Business Administration degree program at htw saar for a modern working environment that is constantly changing. We enable graduates to think critically and learn independently on a long-term basis. For this reason, the practical part of the course is very large, especially from the fifth semester onwards. This gives students the opportunity to deal with real challenges in companies and also to gain experience abroad. For many, the topic of their Bachelor's thesis also arises from this practical period. After seven semesters of standard study time and a successful degree, graduates leave the course with a Bachelor of Arts.
At htw saar, I really never had the feeling of being an index card. It's the small size of the degree programs, the well-equipped campus and the always helpful contact persons that make for a familiar atmosphere.
Daniel Hautz, Absolvent
From restaurants to industrial companies, from start-ups to large corporations and from hospitals to waste management companies: business economists are needed everywhere. That's why we at htw saar want to train people who can deal with challenges independently to a high degree. This makes them valuable employees and managers who are in great demand on the job market.
They can work as marketing professionals who market products in a targeted manner and use budgets efficiently in difficult markets. As specialists in the IT sector, they examine investments and communicate new work processes in all areas of the company. In controlling, they can also keep an eye on the profitability of their employer or drive forward the personnel development of their company. Later on, the position of managing director may even await them, breaking down holistic visions into economic plans and requirements for implementation in their teams and taking responsibility for them.
In addition, our demanding degree program gives graduates the tools they need for subsequent self-employment. After graduating, many go on to found start-ups or agencies, take over a family business or become self-employed in the field of consulting.
Alternatively, it is possible to continue the course with a Master's degree. At htw saar, we offer the degree programs Marketing Science (M.Sc.), Accounting, Auditing and Finance (M.A.), Supply Chain Management (M.Sc.) and International Management. There, students have the opportunity to deepen their chosen specializations even further or to orient themselves internationally.
