With the new part-time Master's degree course in Industrial Engineering and Management, we want to give students the greatest possible individual freedom to reconcile work and study. One of the ways we achieve this is through theory modules, which often do not require attendance at htw saar. This means that the content can be taught and learned completely independently of location.
- Prof. Dr. Rudolf Friedrich, Studienleiter Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen
In the 2019/20 winter semester, htw saar introduced the part-time Master's degree course in Industrial Engineering and Management in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center (CEC). Applicants must fulfill the following requirements
existing employment relationship
Strictly speaking, the global economy consists of two areas: business management and technical implementation. Whether in energy supply, mechanical engineering, electrical and automation engineering or IT, technical parameters and economic targets and processes are intertwined everywhere. A production line without calculating cycle times and economic efficiency? Unthinkable. An online product platform without a fiber optic network? Impossible. Building a decentralized CHP plant without an economic needs analysis? Unacceptable.
Accordingly, there is a need for both generalists and specialists who either focus on a sub-discipline in economics or engineering or act as an interface between the two worlds. Industrial engineers can be both and therefore have perhaps the most important skills profile of all job profiles in the economy.
In order to sharpen and deepen this competence profile, htw saar offers the part-time Master's degree course in Industrial Engineering and Management. We impart advanced know-how in areas such as mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology, teach practical knowledge from economics, law and other social sciences and provide our students with customizable insights into aspects such as Industry 4.0, transport and environmental safety, the management of technical systems and much more.
With the part-time Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering and Management, students strengthen the skills they have already acquired and continue their education in areas of their choice. In this way, we support them in taking the next career step in the working world and taking on tasks with management responsibility.
When I heard that this Master's was being introduced at htw saar in the 2019/2020 winter semester, I enrolled immediately. The content of the Bachelor's degree course was already very solid, practical and well-structured, so I know what to expect in the Master's degree course.
Maik Saidah, Student
By completing the part-time Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, graduates have broadened their own horizons and acquired new skills. This enables them to take the next step on the career ladder and take on specialist and management responsibilities in the future.
take on specialist and management responsibility. Whether in the organization of projects and their production planning, whether in quality assurance or logistical challenges, whether in sales or purchasing: the ability of students to think outside the box and keep an eye on technology and business administration in a company is more in demand than ever. Industries such as
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, vehicle construction, research, construction and logistics, as well as insurance companies, banks and management consultancies, are opening doors for them and offering them new perspectives with greater responsibility.
