Three-year dual study program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Each year there are three theoretical blocks at the ASW. In the remaining time, students gain practical experience in the cooperating training company. Tuition fees are paid by the training company, and students usually also receive a training allowance.
The admission requirements for a dual study program at htw saar and ASW are the general higher education entrance qualification, the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification. Further admission requirements and special regulations can be found here.
The growing competition on national and international markets and the increasing complexity of economic life, e.g. the legal framework, requires qualified employees in all areas of the economy with a high level of business management expertise in individual disciplines, who also have the ability to recognize interrelationships and think "networked".
The combination of basic modules and specialization modules ensures the acquisition of in-depth specialist knowledge in individual disciplines and sound basic knowledge in all other areas of business administration at the same time.
The modules of the degree program are tailored in such a way that they are primarily self-contained areas of knowledge. In the first year of study, important basics are taught that are essential for understanding the content of the second and third years. While the basics are taught in the first year and these are deepened in the second year, the third year prepares students for later planning activities.
The added value of a dual study program results primarily from the combination of acquired theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the training company. In order to give the training companies the opportunity to optimize this dovetailing through the design of their training plans, the distribution of theoretical lessons over the three theoretical blocks of an academic year follows a fixed schedule. If the training company takes this schedule into account when designing the practical training in the company, the success of the course can be optimized.
Please note: the specialization in craft management is a special feature. A specialization in craft management has been developed especially for master craftsmen and technicians who have completed a full-time degree at the Saarland Master Craftsmen and Technicians School (SMTS), which enables them to complete a Bachelor's degree in two years by crediting acquired skills. By crediting examination results from master craftsman or technician training at SMTS, the duration of study is reduced from three to two years, which means that students are placed in the second year of study. The second year of study lays the necessary commercial foundations and deals with company-internal topics (e.g. personnel management and labor law, business informatics). The third year of study continues the internal company issues and deals with topics of corporate management. The teaching of key qualifications rounds off the profile. Upon successful completion, graduates have the tools to manage a company.
The time schedule and content of the practical training in the companies are roughly specified in the training framework plan:
